… to complement the excellent and widely praised “Thinking, Fast & Slow” from Daniel Kahneman. As I’m currently writing on the complexity of decisions we encounter in our lives, I realized that there are so many books on decision-making available today that I thought it would be great to pay tribute to those authors and researchers who inspire me as well as to help newcomers decide what book is best to read next. This list is neither ordered nor exhaustive but covers a broad spectrum of situations where decisions come into play.
As we’re approaching the release date of JIK005 that will welcome the new project “ARMØNIA” from ATŌMI (September 17, 2020), we’re pleased to introduce the artist first and his views on the music creation process.
“I approach music by letting my emotions speak.”
Hello! What can I say? I’m a curious child and a creative adult, in a process of discovery of himself. I love Human and Nature expression that goes beyond words and language through the use of symbols and patterns. But don’t get me wrong, I also love poetry and writing. …
Angoro: Hi! Something about me, let’s see! I’m from Reggio Calabria (Little city in South Italy) and I’m a musician. I’ve been playing and singing in a metal band for a couple of years previously, even though my dream has always been to have a personal one-man project. Besides that, I’m also a biology student and I’m currently working for an editorial company.
A: My favorite artists ever are, for the majority, women such as Bjork, Eivor, Diamanda Galas, Arca. But I also love bands like Type O Negative, Nine Inch Nails, The Cure, Perturbator and many others.

April 10th, Tokyo. While the world is understandably paralyzed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Jikken –Japanese word for “Experiment”– get started. I don’t know what the world will look like tomorrow, but I know one thing: music, and art in general, cannot vanish.
In the already quite large landscape of labels, Jikken wants to foster experimentations as well as solid artist/label relationships, and I think it’s important to take the time to share some thoughts on the past and current situation, as well as on that vision. …
About 1 year ago, I wrote a first blog post to explain why I moved from Ableton Live to Presonus Studio One. Now it’s time to see where I am, and if my sentiments changed over time. There are plenty of great articles reviewing Studio One 4 –the last version– in depth; so I won’t get into the details. This article only intends to share my practical experience, in my specific workflow. I eventually bought the pro version, and this was definitely worth it.
The first point that stands out is how fast I can shape what I have in…
We are thousands, probably millions of “bedroom producers” in the world. What’s fascinating is that it represents as many setups, combinations of gears, softwares, FX, synths, decoration, furnitures… Since I put a lot of efforts iterating on my own ideal setup, I couldn’t resist to share some of my feedback here.
Disclaimer: I’m not advertising any of the products mentioned below. I’m happy to share my experience and justify my choices, but what is good for me might be different for you.
What do I want to achieve when building my studio? “Ergonomics” is probably the most recurring keyword I…
Some of you asked me about the “rules” of this “10 photos challenge” I just started. Well, there was no rules. Until you asked! Then I decided to formalize rules I applied to myself, to share them with you.
These shots have been taken in Peniscola in April 2017. While this Spanish town was almost empty in this period, markets remained very popular and pretty crowded. If I used the plural form of “markets”, this is because this serie includes some shots from Benicarló’s market, the neighboring town.
In such moments, shooting with a rather small camera definitely helps to remain invisible and not being noticed too much by people around. No need to say that the optical viewfinder was my best friend to anticipate people coming in and out of the frame.

These shots have been taken in Peniscola in April 2017, while this Spanish town was almost empty in this period. Generous light turned to yellow during the sunsets, and gave amazing colorful views straight from the streets. Since this location became very popular for tourists, many buildings and hotels have emerged with plenty of repeating patterns.
I decided to start these rounds of “10-photos challenge” to motivate myself selecting best pictures only — at least those I think are worth publishing.

Automata theory is such a great science. No matter how abstract it can be, you can find it everywhere. From simplest recognizable langage to the most complex problems, you might want to use automaton. Today, I would like to discuss about these automata in regular expressions.
For a long time, I used “traditional” regexp engines. Mostly java.util.regex
and python's re
module — oh, I can also add grep
, sed
, and lisp engine within emacs to this list. I use regular expressions every day, mostly for simple use cases, that's true (ie: grep "foo" in my files) but also for powerful…
